Looking forward in the 2014 karting season, the MAXSpeed Group is pleased to announce the dates and location of the Rotax Pan American Challenge. Taking place at the GoPro Motorplex in Mooresville, North Carolina, the same facility that hosted the 2013 Rotax MAX Challenge United States Grand Nationals, competitors will have their final opportunity on American soil to garner a position on Team USA for the prestigious Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals.
“Last season’s Rotax Pan American Challenge event was extremely successful,” explained Josh Smith, Director of the United States Rotax MAX Challenge. “With the Grand Finals event at the same location only a few weeks after, we had a major international presence.
We are working hard to continually improve on the event and are looking forward to having the great hospitality the staff from the GoPro Motorplex are known for.”
The Rotax Pan American Challenge will take place October 15-19, 2014. With unofficial practice operated by the facility on Wednesday, October 15, official practice will commence on Thursday, October 16. Utilizing the same format as the 2013 event, competitors will enjoy an abundance of track time throughout the weekend with official qualifying on Friday morning and three heat races for each division taking place Friday afternoon and Saturday. Heat race points will set the grid for Sunday’s prefinal before the main events hit the track Sunday afternoon.
GoPro Motorplex’s Justin Marks added, “MAXSpeed is working to make this event bigger and better every year and we hope that the GoPro Motorplex can continue in that trend. We have some major plans for the Pan Am event this season as we hope to draw on talent from around the world to our facility.”
The Rotax Pan American Challenge will be the final chance to win invitations to compete in the 2014 Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals. With class champions in Junior MAX, Senior MAX, DD2 and DD2 Masters gaining invitations to the Grand Finals for their respective countries, the possibility remains that a future Grand Finals champion will come from the Rotax Pan American Challenge.
