ROK Cup Quebec Grows for Season Two Adding SH Karting to the Official Calendar

“Two tracks to host ROK Cup Quebec events in 2015!”

The inaugural season of the ROK Cup Quebec Championship comes to a close in just over a weeks time, but the organizers have been hard at work, looking towards 2015 and the growth of the championship.

The biggest news comes with the addition of SH Karting to the 2015 calendar. The Championship will now be held over five race weekends; three at the PSL Montreal facility in Mirabel and two at SH Karting. Each weekend will feature a double-header of racing, creating a ten-race championship, which will once again send it’s champions to compete in the ROK International Final in Italy, pending the class has a minimum of ten drivers.

“This years ROK Cup at PSL Montreal was a great introduction, and helped many drivers with limited budgets compete in a very friendly and equal championship,” exclaims series organizer LP Gelinas. “I had dads work on karts, and have fun with their kids, I think that the ROK program offers grassroots racing, and that’s the way it should be.”

But Gelinas knew the series needed to grow in year two and although he had two new venues in mind, only one was able to commit, with the addition of SH Karting to the program. “The ROK is growing, It needed to be on more than one track, to reach more contenders.”

The ROK Cup program is also growing in the USA as well and Gelinas notes that those who purchase or rent engines to compete in Canada, can also utilize these engines south of the border at events such as the Florida Winter Tour, who will run an exclusive ROK weekend prior to their Rotax program.

In addition to LP’s excitement, SH Karting’s Sacha Gagnon is looking forward to helping grow the series and offer another opportunity for SH Racing Team drivers to race. “SH Racing is really happy to announce that we made a 3-year agreement with ROK Cup Quebec. With the addition of SH Karting with PSL Montreal I think people will notice that the ROK Cup will be a serious championship in 2015 and beyond. With a spot for the World Final Race, we will do our best to promote the ROK Cup in Canada.”

The dates for the 2015 championship have been temporarily announced with the season kicking off at SH Karting on May 9 and 10. June 13 and 14 will host round two at PSL Montreal, with events in July and August also slated to run at PSL Montreal before closing out the season on September 26 and 27 at SH Karting. These dates will be confirmed early in 2015.

More information about the ROK Cup Quebec will be announced in the coming weeks, but those interested in trying out a ROK are invited to the ROK Cup Quebec open house at PSL Montreal on October 11.
