The fourth and final Team Canada member to qualify for the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals from the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship is Innisfil, Ontario’s Paul Carvalho. As class champion in Rotax DD2 Masters, Carvalho scored his second ECKC title after claiming the title in the inaugural ECKC season.
It was an excellent season for Carvalho who stood on the podium in seven of eight ECKC rounds including victories in the first and last races en route to the title.
This will be the first time for Carvalho at the Rotax Grand Finals as there wasn’t a ticket available in from his first championship back in 2010.

In 2014 Carvalho hooked up with long-time tuner Leonard D’Arrigo and the two gelled instantly. That connection will continue into Spain where D’Arrigo will turn the wrenches on the Praga machine that Carvalho will be racing in the DD2 Masters category.
Carvalho is very excited to finally get to the Rotax Grand Finals after not earning a ticket as champion in 2010. He was also very happy to dethrone Stuart Clark from the top of the ECKC Championship podium and now looks forward to working with him in Spain as a teammate instead of just a fellow competitor.
And he has big ambitions in Spain. Carvlaho and d’Arrigo are aiming to finish inside the top-five while keeping their eye on the overall prize.
