RMCGF Day 1: The Grand Finals Kicks Off with the Chassis Raffle

By: Nathan Kelly/CKN.

Today was the official chassis selection day at the 2014 Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals. Drivers from across the globe were finally able to get their hands on the karts they will drive for the first time. With weather conditions being warm and sunny participants could not ask for a much better first day. The chassis manufacturers were proudly displaying their work in a spectacular fashion, with all four brands spread across the start/finish line in rows of seventy-two.

CRG karts will be piloted this week by the premier Rotax DD2 class and they are covered in a unique Spanish decal kit specifically for the Grand Finals. CRG is known for their reputability of their DD2 package and we could not have asked for a more exciting combination which will make for some excellent racing. The Senior Max class will be driving Birel’s, which always provide nice looking karts in red and white. This will be the final flight for the Birel colours as they shift to BirelART in 2015. Finally the Junior Max class will be on Sodikarts, who also have a new decal kit which gives a very clean look. Finally the Rotax DD2 Masters division will pilot the Praga blue for the second straight year, making it two and a half Italian manufacturers, one French and one from the Czech Republic.

A lot of excitement and nerves built up with mechanics working late into day to prepare for the first day of practice. With the possibility of rain in the future, this 15th annual Rotax Grand Finals is shaping up to be a spectacular events. The Kartodromo Internacional Lucas Guerrero provides the ideal location for this years Grand Final with the circuit looking very challenging for both drivers and mechanics. A deceptively wide track with some very fast high speed sections should make for some exciting racing. Technical sections with large curbing will test drivers on their ability to stay smooth and focused. Overall the racing is shaping up to be one not to forget, in typical Rotax Grand Finals style.
