A new colour of chassis will make its way onto the karting circuits in Canada this year as the uniquely blue, silver and white coloured Ricciardo Kart, named after Australian Red Bull Racing Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo, will make it’s Canadian debut this year with Nonstop Racing.
As the new North American importer for the BirelART product line which also manufactures the Ricciardo Kart, PSL Karting has tabbed Che Smith of Nonstop Racing to handle the chassis line for Canada’s capital region. Smith will focus on building the brand up around the Ottawa area, on both sides of the provincial border, focusing his initial efforts on the AM29 chassis for the Briggs & Stratton four-cycle market.
“After being a dealer with PSL Karting for the past two years, first with LH Kart and then CRG, I was in shock when PSL Karting announced they were parting ways CRG late last year,” explained Smith when contacted by CKN. “Whichever chassis direction they went, I wanted to stay with PSL as they’ve really helped me as a small dealer, as the support they give their dealers is just fantastic.”
“When they announced the BirelART move, we ran into a small issue since there was already a BirelART dealer in the 613 area. We had to come up with something different and last week Dominic from PSL offered me the best solution, to first be able to stay with the PSL family and a unique opportunity to become a part of a great new venture with the Ricciardo BirelART chassis line. I couldn’t be more excited about going forward and being apart of PSL’s karting history.”
Nonstop Racing will offer initial incentives for those making the upgrade from CRG karts that the team utilized last year, but they are also seeking new drivers for the team for the 2015 race season, which features racing in the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship, Ottawa-Gatineau Karting Championship, ASN Canadian National Championships and numerous local club races.
“Holding out for chassis was very hard when clients are waiting to upgrade for the new season. It was cutting it close with the first OGKC race next weekend, but for sure worth the wait,” continued Smith.

The Ricciardo Kart was launched in late 2014 and has been a hit around the world ever since and Nonstop Racing is excited to introduce it to Eastern Canada.
