Saturday May 26th Flamboro Speedway was the place to be for anyone that races 4 cycle Honda go karts. For the third straight race more than 100 Waterloo Regional Kart club (WRKC) members took to the track in pursuit of valuable points for the 2012 season championship. Everyone on hand was treated to some great racing action. It was especially good to see many of our new members starting to show they will be competing for a podium finish not to far in the future.
Our race day sponsor was the family and friends of Everett Colling. On June 2nd many family members and friends will join Jane Colling in the Hamilton Walk for ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) as she raises money in memory of her late husband Everett. Everett had a passion for racing and classic cars, and he was a former president of the Canadian Vintage Modified Racing Club. Jane collected donations for her walk at registration, and throughout the race day. She was overjoyed at the end of the day stating she had exceeded all her expectations thanks to the generosity of the WRKC members.
ALS is a paralyzing, life ending condition that attacks and kills the motor neurons in the body. It denies it victims the ability to move, to speak, and finally to breathe.
