The SH Karting Team traveled to the beautiful Le Circuit Karting Mont-Tremblant for the fourth round of the 2012 Quebec Cup this past weekend. Using the event to score some valuable championship points, some team drivers were also using the event as a tune-up for the upcoming ASN Canadian National Karting Championships, held at Le Circuit in August. Racing under high heat, SH Karting driver Mikel Pelletier highlighted the results as he was able score a convincing victory in Rotax Max, while other SH Karting drivers stood on the podium at days end.
Pelletier was in control of the Rotax Max division all day as he converted his pole-position in qualifying into pre final and final victories, showing he is ready for the Nationals in August. Joining him on the podium was SH teammate Josiane Plante, driving to a stellar second-place result. Adding a third driver to the top-five in Rotax Max, Maxime Couturier finished fifth.
“I am very proud to have two SH Karting TonyKart drivers on the podium in Rotax Max,” commented Sacha Gagnon of SH Karting, following Sunday’s podium ceremony.

Racing in only his third Rotax DD2 event, Jesse Lazare continues to impress in the two-speed Rotax class. Lazare posted a record-breaking fast-lap in qualifying to take the pole-position, before leading flag-to-flag in the pre final. However, after leading a majority of the final, a minor mistake cost him a shot a victory and Lazare would have to settle for the third step on the podium.
“Jesse (Lazare) continues to impress everyone in the Rotax DD2 class this year,” continued Gagnon.
Adding another podium for SH Karting, Andres De Alba drove a brilliant race in Rotax Micro-Max to finish third.
In a thrilling Briggs and Stratton final, SH Karting teammates Jesse Lazare and Steven Szigeti put forth great drives, only to come up short in the end. The duo qualified third and forth, but issues in the pre-final shuffled them down the order and an eventual DNF for Szigeti. Both making great gains on the start in the final, Lazare made his way back into the top-five, while Szigeti drove from 21st all the way to eighth on the first lap! A couple laps later, Lazare was forced to retire with a dislodged nosecone, while Szigeti had worked his way to third. Unfortunately for Szigeti, contact while going for second place, resulted in his race ending early. At the finish, Jessica Plante was the only SH Karting driver able to finish, in seventh.
Six SH Karting drivers entered the very competitive and 23-kart deep Rotax Junior division in Tremblant. Tommy Lemaire-Ouellet lead the way for the team driving to a fifth place result in the final, while the trio of Frank Arnott, Steve Coudray and Alexandre Couturier held positions twelve through fourteen. Richard Schumacher and William Gaudreault finished sixteenth and twentieth respectively.

Charles Deschenes was able to add another top-five for SH Karting in the Rotax Mini-Max category finishing fifth, one spot ahead of teammate Charles Robin.
A quick turnaround for the SH Karting team sees them competing at Le Monaco de Trois Rivieres for the Quebec Cup/Eastern Canadian Karting Championship double-header weekend, starting on July 26. The four-day event is a very special showcase on the Karting Quebec calendar as it runs on a portion of the famed streets that the Grand Prix Trois Rivieres (GP3R) competes on annually and will also crown the ECKC Champions on Sunday.
