On the wake of the 2014 Canadian Karting Campaign, following a long offseason, Racing Edge Motorsports is set to expand once again. Going off a year of race wins and great momentum in 2013; REM is set to take on the challenges that 2014 has in store. REM is looking for the highest quality results that can be posted during the season which meant hard work and dedication throughout the off season.
This time the expanse is developed in the engine department. Few the first few years of the business the team has been outsourcing all engine needs to two different builders, one for all two cycle needs, and on for the four cycle development. For 2014 the team will be servicing all Rotax and Briggs and Stratton engines in house. This gives the opportunity for team organization to be improved to an even higher level than what is currently being achieved. REM and all their employee’s are convinced that the engine program will be second-to-none and offer some of the best performance on the market.
During the past winter, Kevin Monteith, owner and chief of operations at REM, approached Glenn Butler who has been the long time engine builder for the team’s four cycle power plants and discussed the opportunities of coming to work for the team as the engine specialist. Glenn gladly took the offer and immediately began researching and working harder than ever to begin development on each individual package.
Over the offseason REM engine specialist Glenn Butler, and team owners Kevin and Wendy Monteith have been doing extensive research and development on these two different engine packages. Following the snow melt, REM is planning to undergo many testing days with some of the teams top drivers to gather some valuable information and enhance the development of the program. Many connections have been made to ensure that the top level of performance is achieved on every level of competition. In 2014 REM is going to be pushing all levels of the team to the highest level to ensure top performances at every event, no matter if it is a club or a national event.
