Taking place this past weekend, Innisfil Kart Club hosted their one and only night race of the 2013 season. With an exciting evening planned, competitors were greeted to a pristine facility for some racing under the lights. With a competitor barbeque and a high entry count, racers capped off the fun filled evening with some great wheel-to-wheel action under the lights.
“Tony and I, as well as all the members of the Innisfil Kart Club and Innisfil Indy, need to thank all the volunteers and corner workers that made this event a success,” explained Rose Launi. “Without their help and support, none of this would have been possible.”
Launi continued, “We would also like to thank all the drivers that came from different clubs and organizations to our event. It means a lot to us and we thank you.”
Taking place on the evening of Saturday, September 7, the weather was perfect. Registration opened at 3:00pm with drivers hitting the track for practice shortly after. With qualifying and prefinals completed at dusk, the real racing action began later in the evening, as all classes would complete their main events under the lights.
Innisfil Kart Club and the Launi family would like to congratulate all the evening’s winners as well as thank some special volunteers for their continued support. With steak, corn and porchetta at the evening barbeque, the Launi family would like to thank the Iozzo family for the porchetta donation. A special thank you also goes out to Maria and Al for event scoring, Paul Harlow, Sherry for her time, as well as Giuseppe for working so hard on the barbeque. Last but not least, the Launi family would like to thank Valeria Filicetti for assisting with scales. This was her last event with the Innisfil Kart Club, as she will be moving to Italy for schooling. Good luck Valeria.
Innisfil Kart Club and the Launi family would like to invite all participants to the final round of the Northern Ontario Karting Championship this weekend. Taking place at the Innisfil Indy facility in Gilford, Ontario, participants will compete on the Launi MindBender Downhill layout during the final round of the series. With practice taking place on Saturday, September 14, wheel-to wheel action will commence on Sunday September 15. With race wins and points championships on the line, the NOKC finale will be an event you won’t want to miss. As always, all shifter kart drivers are invited to the September 15 NOKC race, with the series featuring the action and excitement of the six-speed gearbox class.
With the night race now complete, Innisfil Kart Club has three events remaining on their 2013 club calendar. Race 13 will take place on September 22 and then the August 4 makeup race will take place September 29. The final event on the 2013 Innisfil Kart Club calendar will be the annual enduro event that will run on October 20. Stay tuned for more details.
