PR: MG Tires named Title Sponsor for SKUSA SuperNationals XVI

The countdown to the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals XVI continues as the country’s largest karting event will begin in under three weeks. Entries continue to stream in ahead of the Thursday, November 1 closing date, filling up the final remaining spots in the nine categories that are set to compete during the week of November 14-18. Drivers will battle for the over $100,000 in cash and prizes that will be doled out on SuperSunday. In addition to the stacked line-up of prize money and awards, one of the primary constants for each of the expected 500-plus drivers in Las Vegas this year will be MG Tires. Since 2005, MG Tires has been the official tire of the SKUSA SuperNationals, and to further cement their continuing support of this great event, the Brazilian tire manufacturer has signed on as the title sponsor for the 16th annual running of the SuperNationals.

MG Tires is among the major kart tire manufacturers in the world, and they have invested heavily in research and development for over 20 years. The Brazilian company exports its products throughout North, Central and South America, Australia, and numerous countries in Europe. MG Tires has been the official tire of the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour for the past three seasons, including the introduction of the MG ‘SKUSA’ White tire at the beginning of 2011. The continued support in 2012 began with MG Tires signing on as the title sponsor for the SKUSA SpringNationals, held at the PKRA Formula K Raceway in Phoenix back in April. The relationship between Superkarts! USA and MG Tires has helped both companies to grow steadily in recent years, and additional expansion is on the horizon.

“SKUSA and MG Tires have enjoyed a strong relationship for many years, and bringing MG on as the title sponsor for this year’s SuperNationals just further shows their commitment,” stated Superkarts! USA CEO Tom Kutscher. “The products they produce are the best in the world, and MG is always supporting us with our many programs. The growth of the SuperNationals and the SKUSA Pro Tour is credited to a number of pieces coming together, including MG Tires. Placing our experienced race staff, organization and talented competitors collectively with the MG brand equates to success on so many levels.”

The MG Tire logo will be displayed even more prominently during this year’s trip to the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino, and company officials will once again make the trip to Las Vegas to enjoy the magnitude of the event that they have helped support and develop. The MG SKUSA White tire has been an extremely positive addition to the Superkarts! USA program, having provided a strong foundation for the technical side of the SKUSA equation.

“I think that one of the best recipes for success is when all the players are close, like MG is with SKUSA,” offered Wagner Rossi of MG Tires North America. “Factory, importer, distributor and promoter. All the decisions are made when needed without waiting to go through the chain of command or through a Board of Directors. No wasting time! We do what we’ve got to do. Period! And we always think of the drivers in the first place. SKUSA is the example of that new approach, and that’s why it is so popular and strong among the drivers around the world.”

SKUSA has always focused on providing the best possible experience for its customers. This year, over $100,000 in purses, championship awards, contingencies and prizes will be doled out on SuperSunday, including the big $10,000 check to the winner of the KZ2 main event. A $20k purse is on the line for the full field of KZ2 drivers. The S1 and TaG Senior competitors will be vying for a share of their own unique $5,000 prize packages, while the top drivers in both classes on the SKUSA Pro Tour will also be gunning for an additional $6,000+ that comes with the class championship. Along with the $3,000 check for winning the title in either S1 or TaG Senior, the #1 plate holders will become part of the SKUSA Circle of Champions in 2013, which provides fully sponsored entries to next season’s Pro Tour, valued at over $3,000.

SKUSA values its partners, and the SuperNationals have always been a focus of these relationships. Oakley is once again teaming with Superkarts! USA to present the one-of-a-kind ‘Leadfoot Award’ to the top qualifier in the KZ2 class, in addition to providing their amazing eyewear for each and every podium finisher. Bernard Richard Manufacture (BRM) continues its support of the SKUSA SuperNationals, and will award one-off timepieces to the winners in S4 and TaG Master. Honda Performance Development will once again be providing a complete CR125 engine kit to one of the podium finishers in S2. They are also awarding over $6,000 in contingencies for the drivers in the Stock Moto categories. Additional prizes are still being accepted at the SKUSA home office, and a limited number of sponsorships in other classes are still available.

This year’s class line-up for the SuperNationals was decreased to nine categories for 2012 in an attempt to compact the daily schedule, which was extremely grueling on the event staff in 2011 as 15-hour days were the norm. Currently, the S2 Semi-Pro Stock Moto and TaG Master categories are sold out at 40 drivers each, while TaG Junior is now filled with 80 competitors. The Junior category has been a focus for SKUSA over the past three years, and its steady growth is a strong sign. The remaining categories still have spots available before they too are sold out, including the TaG Senior division, which SKUSA has elected to once again cap at 80 drivers. A deep list of drivers had officially expressed their intent to enter should SKUSA open the class to 120 entries; however, too significant a number elected to pass on the opportunity when it was made available. As such, TaG Senior will remain at a stacked 80 entries, which will be split into two groups of 40.

Time is running out for competitors to secure their spot at this year’s event. The deadline to pre-register at www.skusastore.com is midnight on Thursday, November 1.
