Karts & Parts and Peterborough Kartway are pleased to announce the addition of Mike Goodyear to the team. Goodyear will have multiple responsibilities with both facilities.
“Adding an arrive and drive kart racing league to the Peterborough Kartway facility required an experienced manager to help get the new venture off the ground,” said Lon Herder, president of Peterborough Kartway. “The race team is also growing so we needed an capable individual that could work on karts at race events,” added Kyle Herder, manager of Karts & Parts. “
“After meeting with Mike, Kyle and I agreed he would be a great fit for both of us” stated Lon Herder, “his varied experiences, both in motorsport and business will serve well to grow Peterborough Kartway” he added. “Mike’s commitment to professionalism, preparation and desire to win impressed me” injected Kyle Herder, “and like me, he likes to keep everything really clean.”
In addition to getting the Peterborough Karting Challenge operational, Goodyear will be responsible for the marketing and sales for both the league and concession karting at Peterborough Kartway. Goodyear will assist Kyle Herder at the Karts & Parts shop in Markham, ON and with the Karts & Parts team at race events as well. His duties will include customer service, chassis maintenance and preparation in the shop and tuning and driver coaching at the race track.
“Having been involved in arrive and drive karting programs as a race official since 2003, I had been seeking an opportunity to run a first class league.” “It excites me to bring new people to a sport that I have enjoyed my entire life” he beamed. “Kyle operates the race team like a small Formula 1 outfit and is a world class driver in his own right,” added Goodyear. “I look forward to working with Kyle to bring our drivers the winning edge.”
Mike Goodyear has been involved in motor sport his entire life. Born into a racing family which ultimately produced one of Canada’s greatest drivers, (brother Scott Goodyear), Mike won his share of karting championships as well. Since his karting days, he continued his passion for the sport in many capacities including mechanic, driver coaching, event organising and race officiating. His experience covers many forms of racing, go-karts, formula cars, stock cars and motorcycles.
