During the trip to Las Vegas, on the occasion of seventeenth edition of the “Supernational” the final details for the organization of the official team have been defined, it will be committed to following Rotax category all over the world; it will be a joint venture between the official Birel Motorsport team and the well-known and renowned KMS (Kalman Motorsport) team, already a star and winner of numerous European and World finals as well as many national championships.
After careful analysis of the market and the current needs of karting, Birel has decided to focus more and more attention on these mono brand categories which continue to expand all over the world, trying to develop the best specific products for their particular characteristics.
Important development work was carried out during the 2013 season, also supported by the experience of KMS riders, giving very positive results for both categories Max and DD2 (where Ben Cooper won the European championship title) and defining new chassis for the production of the very efficient 2014 series (identified by the abbreviation “S6”). Among the strengths is the ease of taking them to their maximum performance without having to make changes to the structure.
The formation of the new team “BIREL-KMS will count on the current technical experts
from Hungary, who have already worked for years in the KMS team, supported by the official Birel Motorsport staff; together they will guarantee a great technical and organizational service to all the drivers in the various categories.
This direct connection with the newly formed, but already victorious “KMS NORTH AMERICA” team, founded by the same Peter Kalman in collaboration with the Canadian Birel importer Michel Boisclair of the SRA company and the well-known and award winning driver Ben Cooper, will make it also possible to participate in all American leagues of category, in addition to the most important European races, enjoying high level technical and organizational service.
Engine design will be followed and managed directly, both for the European races and for the American ones, by the well-known Belgian company “GKS” of Koen Lemmens, for year’s leader in this sector and specialized not only in the KF categories, but also in the Rotax categories.
