Gianfranco Mazzaferro, a member of the Ferrolati Corse Karting Team, takes the next step in his 2013 kart racing program as he heads to Europe to join an international field of 86 Rotax Max drivers. Mazzaferro and tuner Nick Cosco will work with Team TKP from Holland with Rotax engines from JVD Power. This weekend marks the second round of the four round Euro Max Challenge and takes place at the Pista 7 Laghi located in Castelletto di Branduzzo, Italy. GF will fly the Alonso Kart colours as he looks to improve following a successful rookie debut at the 2013 Florida Winter Tour.
“Our goal is just to really take in the experience,” comments Mazzaferro. “The racing in Europe is extremely competitive and this is a chance for me to learn a ton from some of the best and improve our program overall. The track looks amazing and I can’t wait to get racing.”
Upon his return to Canada, GF and the Ferrolati Corse Karting team will head to Mosport International Karting Complex to take in the opening round of the Eastern Canadian Karting Championships with an eye on a pass to Rotax Team Canada.
“The Florida Winter Tour had its ups and downs for me and I know the areas I need to improve,” smiles GF. “I think running this race in Europe will prepare me well to kick off the Eastern Canadian Karting Championships. It feels like such a long time since I’ve been in a kart and I know there will be some rust to knock off when we hit the track this week.”
