Eyenovation Multimedia, a small motorsports centric California based design studio, today announced the launch of a small side project: KartDirectory.com
KartDirectory.com offers users a simple and lightweight way to find anything karting related online by searching an ever increasing database of businesses. Viewers can search by category, location, or geographic proximity with powerful mapping API capabilities. It’s a tool designed primarily to help newcomers and assist them in finding anything they’re looking for. The site is completely free to use and free for businesses to sign up.
“For the last 10 years, I’ve had the privilege of making a living designing for various clients in motorsport,” explained Eyenovation’s Chris Ortenburger. “Virtually everything I’ve done has been in service to them. In that time, I’ve seen small opportunities go unaddressed. So I figured — why not just create solutions ourselves and offer them to the sport?”
The business model for KartDirectory.com will be as lean as possible. For the time being, it is free for both users and businesses to use. In the future, there may be a very small monthly fee for advertisers to maintain their listing(s). “The goal is to always make the site as affordable as possible,” added Ortenburger. “This isn’t a money making venture. If the site gets any traction, we may consider charging a small monthly fee to cover expenses. The idea is to maintain the site as a true community resource.”
KartDirectory.com has been pre-populated with many karting businesses throughout North America, in every category from indoor to outdoor. Each listing undergoes careful human curation to verify legitimacy and relevance for end users. It’s incredibly simple for businesses to submit or edit their information, and Kart Directory aims to be completely agnostic to series, brand, affiliation, shop, or personality.
“The current state of the sport lacks a true sense of community,” lamented Eyenovation’s principal. “We really want KartDirectory.com to be a neutral and accessible resource for anyone seeking information.”
Future plans for the site will include customer generated reviews, slated for release in the coming weeks. Verified accounts will be able to rate karting businesses using their real names, in order to recognize those that have provided excellent service or support.
“It’s an experiment to say the least,” concluded Ortenburger. “We’ll see if there’s any demand for a tool like this. Feedback is always welcome.”
