The 2013 Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championship kicks off this weekend at 3-S Go Karts in Sutton, Ontario. The BSRKC enters their seventh season of competitive two and four cycle racing and this year see’s a change-up in the series. Here’s a couple news and notes about this weekend’s event:
Series Shifts to One-Day Events
Ever since the BSRKC began, there have always been two race days, mainly separating the two-cycle and four-cycle classes. However for 2013, events will host official practice on Saturday’s and Official race days on Sunday, with the exception of the Shannonville Bear Hunt that is.
Briggs & Stratton Classes Added to Official Roster
After the debut of the Briggs & Stratton Sr. class at the Shannonville Bear Hunt in 2012, the BSRKC officially welcomes three news classes to the series in 2013 as Briggs & Stratton Jr, Sr and Masters join the party. The Quebec region has really taken on the Briggs program, and with the Canadian Championships in Ontario this year many could use the BSRKC to prepare for the event.
Grand Prize Draw to send one driver, all inclusive, to Granja Viana 500 in Brazil
Once again, MG Tires and Luis Rebal have stepped up to provide an awesome Grand Prize package for one lucky BSRKC competitor. Selected from a random draw, one driver will travel to Brazil for the November 30 event to compete in the Granja Viana 500, side by side with many top motorsports stars. The event gathers world-wide attention and is truly a spectacular production.
Cash Prizes For Top Three in Official Classes
One thing the BSRKC has done very well since it’s induction has been to pay out drivers in official classes who finish on the podium. This year the series will once again reward those in the top-three in official classes with cash payments of $175.00 for first place, $75.00 for second place and $50.00 for third. These cash prizes are available to those official classes with ten or more entries.
Four Events in 2013; Double Header Season Finale at Shannonville
This year, the BSRKC will only host four events compared to years past that have had as many as six. After the series kick off at Sutton, round two shifts to Flamboro Speedway on June 22 and 23 before heading south to Point Pelee Karting in Leamington on July 6 and 7. To cap off this years series with a bang, the organizers elected to host a double-header at Shannonville Motorsports Park on July 31 to August 1, at the ever popular Bear Hunt races. The nearly week long event draws entries from as far as Quebec, where many drivers and families camp out right at the track.
