With the goal of promoting the maximum participation of Rotax drivers in the National racing series, SRA Karting International will award the biggest number of prizes for all Rotax National classes.
Invitations to the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals in Italy
The National Champion in the Rotax Junior MAX, Rotax MAX, Rotax DD2 and DD2 Masters classes crowned at the 2016 ASN Canada FIA National Championships will receive an invitation to participate at the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Final in Sarno, Italy next October. The invitation includes registration fees, the use of a complete new kart, tires and fuel for the event.
The Champion in the Rotax Junior MAX, Rotax MAX, Rotax DD2 and DD2 Masters at the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship (ECKC) will also receive the same invitation to participate at the Rotax Grand Finals.
New this year, the Micro MAX and Mini MAX class will be part of the Rotax Grand Finals. Canada obtained the right to invite one driver in both classes. This invitation will be awarded to the Micro MAX and Mini MAX driver which will have accumulated the highest total of points for the Canadian Nationals and ECKC championships. Points awarded at the Canadian Nationals will be the same point system in use for the ECKC, as if the Nationals was a fifth round. As with the ECKC, the worst results will be removed from the standings.
Invitations to the US Open in Las Vegas next November.
We know the margin between the Champion in a category and the runner-up can sometimes be very close. To stimulate the battles between the competitors throughout the season, SRA Karting will innovate with a prize for one driver in each Rotax National classes. This prize will be an invitation to race at the third round of the US Open in Las Vegas next November. The invitation includes: entry fees, slick tires for the event and a ticket for the Banquet of Champions. This prize will be awarded by SRA Karting in collaboration with MAX Speed Group, the US Rotax importer.
These invitations will be awarded the same way as the Micro MAX and Mini MAX invitations to the Grand Finals. The competitor having scored the highest number of points at the Canadian Nationals and the ECKC, without having received an invitation for the Rotax Grand Finals, will earn the invitation. For this prize also, the worst result will be subtracted from the standings.
For Michel Boisclair, president of SRA Karting, “over the years, the Rotax program gave the chance for Canadian drivers to shine in international events. Because of the Rotax MAX Challenge program, Pier-Luc Ouellette, Scott Campbell, Daniel Morad, Luc Sauriol and Ben Cooper had the chance to become World Champion and have the Canadian flag waiving over the podium. An athlete can only improve when he is racing against the best in his sport and with these prizes, we want to give to our Rotax drivers the chance to shine at the top level of our sport.”
With this huge support from SRA Karting International, an unprecedented total of 16 drivers will have the chance to race in international events after having qualified from Canadian events.
