Goodwood Kartways continues its busy off season this week with the announcement of its 2015 Goodwood Kartways Scholarship Team. Sixteen drivers are set to climb a rung on the racing ladder and join the Toronto Racing Association of Karters next Spring, and they’ll be competing across six club classes and in both Rotax and Briggs & Stratton classes.
“It’s an exciting time for us, for sure,” said Goodwood Kartways President Dan DiLeo over the weekend. “Though they’re unknown to the greater karting community in Ontario and Canada, we’ve watched these drivers develop throughout the season and in some cases multiple seasons of the Canadian Rookie Karting Championship. It’s really gratifying to see them get quicker and refine their race craft, and it’s great when they decide to move up the racing ladder and the Scholarship Program is there to help. We can’t wait to see how they do, and our guys will be there to support them every step of the way.”
With the Scholarship Program entering its seventh season, each driver in the latest graduating class will be set up with an appropriate Intrepid chassis and each will be looking to follow in the footsteps of those that have gone before them and found Club, Regional or even National success. The sixteen drivers amassed nearly 60 wins in the Canadian Rookie Karting Championship this past season at Goodwood, and the group includes both Youth Champion and Runner-Up Logan Ploder and Domenico Petrucci, along with other stars from the Youth, Teen and Adult divisions. Thirteen among them were race winners, and the full list of drivers and classes they are graduating into can be seen below.
Goodwood Kartways has been busy this Fall, promoting the sport and its facility at shows like the Canadian International Auto Show, The Motorsports Expo and the Gentleman’s Expo to name a few. Events like these and other promotional efforts saw the Canadian Rookie Karting Championship rise to nearly 1000 members last season, and the year ahead looks just as promising. Goodwood Kartways has also acquired the rights to manage the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park Karting Centre, and a huge transformation has been taking place there this Fall. More details will follow over the course of the winter on that front.
On track action for the Goodwood/Intrepid National Team resumes in January as the 2015 Florida Winter Tour begins at Homestead-Miami Speedway. For information on how the team can help you there, please contact marco@goodwoodkartways.com and visit goodwoodkartways.com.
