The second season of the increasingly popular Champion Ron Fellows Karting Challenge came to an end yesterday under the lights at Goodwood Kartways. There were 167 karters on hand vying for the top spot in varying track conditions and CKN’s Neelan Nadesan was on site to document the races.
Rotax DD2
In Rotax DD2, Tyler Kashak swept the day’s races ahead of Austin Riley and David Nevin. By winning the final, Kashak took the season sweep for race wins and brought home the championship ahead with Riley finishing in second.
Rotax Micro Max / Mini Max
Austin Boyle won the Micro Max final ahead of Anthony Sardellitti and Lorenzo Marsillo. With the win Boyle secured the Championship with Sardellitti and Morsillo completing the championship podium as well.
Mini Max was dominated in the twilight by Gianluca Savaglio who would also win the class championship. Andrew Maciel and Sheyla Basalic completed the top three in the final. Ryland Duesburry was the championship leader going into the final but struggles during the race forced him to finish down the order and put him down to second in the championship standings.
Rotax Senior / Rotax Masters
Davide Greco was the driver to beat in Rotax Senior coming off a podium at the Canadian National Championships in DD2 a week ago. Greco won the final after a close race with Tyler Kashak, who was able to win the class championship with a second place finish. Justin Ovejaro completed the podium in third place. Alexander Mankovski was the winner in Rotax Masters
Briggs & Stratton Novice & Jr Lite
Ethan Donkers drove a great race in Briggs & Stratton Novice to take the final win ahead of Brayden Lindgren and Steven Navratil. By finishing second in the final Lindgren won the championship followed by Navratil and Donkers.
In Jr. Lite Nicky Palladino and Alec Drummond came into the weekend in a dead heat for the championship lead. Paladino would come out on top in that battle after a close race with Kai Dalziel and Logan Ploder in the final. Drummond was running at the front of the field for most of the race but fell down to fifth at the end. With the win Paladino secured the championship and by finishing second Daziel leaped over Drummond to finish second.
Briggs & Stratton Masters
Marc Stehle got some redemption after his heartbreaking loss in the Briggs & Stratton Masters final at the Canadian National championships last weekend taking Saturday night’s final win ahead of Dave Anderson and Kyle Aulenback. Adrian Donkers won the championship after finishing fourth in the final.
Rotax Max Junior
After missing the last two CRFKC races at Mosport Ryan MacDermid dominated the race with his lit up Tonykart. Cole Hooton and Xavier Harris completed the top three. By finishing third Harris was able to secure the championship win with Hooton and Leif Gladding completing the top three.
Briggs & Stratton Junior
In Briggs & Stratton Junior Joshua Conquer and Gavin Sanders came into the event as the championship favourites with Conquer holding a 50 point advantage. Conquer took the lead from the green flag but lost the lead to Sanders on lap three. From there Sanders drove away to an easy win but with second place in the final Conquer was able to lock up the championship win. Sanders ultimately finished second in the championship tally ahead of Gianluca Savaglio.
Briggs & Stratton Senior
In the Briggs Senior final rain started to hit the track as the drivers were on grid prompting a couple drivers to switch to rains while most stayed on dry tires. Kyle Rennie was one of the drivers who benefited from the change cruising through the field for a well deserved win the final. Michael Glaze finished second followed by series champion Marco Di Leo.
