CRFKC Races into the Night as Season Finale Nears

Introduced back in 2009, the annual doubleheader night race at Goodwood Kartways has always been a crowd favourite. This year’s addition promises much of the same as the much anticipated CRFKC finale rolls into town. Known for spectacular racing under the lights, the family like environment that fills the park and of course a Fireworks show that rivals the best in the area, this year’s edition carries some extra weight. Announced less than four weeks ago, news of Rok engine eligibility, paired with tickets to the Rok Cup International Final has made this event more attractive than ever.

This year’s format includes an extra twist. Accommodations have been made to include a unique Rok Cup format for the three classes that have tickets to the big Race in Italy on the line. To kick things off, TRAK Race 9 will form the early portion of the day. Registration will open at 8am, driver’s meeting takes place at 9:30am, practice starts at 10am sharp and racing is scheduled to wrap up by 3:30pm.

CRFKC Officials will then quickly shift gears in preparation for the second event of the day, as TRAK, MIKA and CRFKC karters prepare for the annual night race. Night race registration will open at 1pm, driver’s meeting will take place at 3:30pm, practice begins at 3:45pm and finals continue into the night and of course under the lights!

The format mentioned above is the same successful format that has been used for past years, here’s the twist; the three classes that have tickets at stake will be following a unique Rok Cup format. These three classes, specifically Rok/Rotax Junior, Rok/Rotax Senior and Rok/Rotax Masters will follow a full-day seven session event that all leads up to ‘Final 2’ which will determine the ticket winners for the highest placing Rok powered entries. Two Practice sessions will help get over 30+ Rok competitors up to speed with their new power plants. Qualifying will set the starting order for Heat 1 and Heat 2. The combined scores from the Heat races will set the stage for Final 1. The finishing order in Final 1 will act as the official results for TRAK Race 9 and of course be used as the starting order for Final 2.

Final 2 will carry the most weight as when the checkered flag falls the finishing order will be used to score CRFKC Round 4 points and of course the highest finishing Rok competitor will be awarded the ticket to the Rok Cup International Final held in Italy in the month of October.

The doubleheader takes place this Saturday, September 9th. The track will be open for practice on Thursday, September 7th, from 10am-7pm, and Friday, September 8th from 10am-5pm. Visiting club members are always welcome.

Participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for expected temperatures and plan ahead. Extra pit lighting is highly recommended. Please note that overnight camping is not permitted as per municipal by-laws.

The CRFKC, a four round, no drop format, has confirmed the following prize package for Saturday night:

  • CHAMPION SPARK PLUGS Awards and Apparel – Champion podium hats and other gift packages will be given out each round. Unique race day trophies and championship awards presented by Champion.
