It’s time for one of our favourite events of the season. This week we are in the fabulous city of Trois-Rivieres, Quebec for their annual Le Monaco de Trois-Rivieres event, where karters take on a demanding temporary circuit on a portion of the car track that is used for the GP3R.
A triple-threat of series are in attendance this weekend. It is the third round, races five and six, of the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship. It is also the fourth round of the Coupe du Quebec and finally, the US North East Rotax Series is the third series to join in the action this weekend. All three series will compete together for both race days, with points scored separately for individual championships.
With drivers from all three series on track, we are expecting a massive turnout and some wicked racing!
To add into the massive event, there is also a pair of specialty classes to compete on Saturday. The crowd favourite Honda Open and Pro Shifter categories will make their first major appearance of the season. Both classes always draw plenty of attention from the ECKC and Coupe du Quebec regulars.
Practice for the event kicked off on Thursday, but rain clouds rolled in just as the lunch break was completed, dropping a heavy load of water on the facility and ultimately forcing officials to call off the remaining practice sessions for the day.
Friday features another full day of practice before a pair of standard race days where drivers will attempt to tame the slick surface in 3R.
Always a crowd favourite event, the atmosphere is already buzzing in Trois-Rivieres, where the downtown fills up with entertainment and excellent dining after racing hours.
