PR: Defrancesco Racing Prepares for SKUSA SuperNationals

Heading into the biggest event in North American karting, DeFrancesco Racing (DFR) will make the cross country trek to the SuperkartsI USA (SKUSA) SuperNationals with three talented competitors. Taking place on the grounds of the RIO All-Suites Hotel and Casino just off The Strip in Las Vegas, Nevada, Devlin and Lachlan DeFrancesco as well as former Formula One driver and recent NASCAR race winner Nelson Piquet will look for SuperNats glory.

“We have been doing a lot of testing with Lachlan, and Devlin has seen action in both North America and Europe,” explained Octane Sports Development’s Nick Mitchell. “Also, to have Nelson back under the team tent competing in two divisions is something that we are all excited about.”

While Piquet will return to his roots, the talented motorsports star will compete in a pair of classes in Las Vegas. With plans to get behind the wheel of a two-speed Rotax DD2, the Brazilian champion will also battle in the premier KZ2 category against some of the world’s very best drivers in a six speed powered Tony Kart.

Devlin DeFrancesco will follow in the footsteps of Piquet as he will also see action in a pair of classes in Las Vegas. Competing aboard a Supertune USA powered Tony Kart, the young phenom will look to stand atop the blocks in both Rotax Junior and TaG Junior upon event completion November 24th. Traveling straight from the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals in New Orleans where he will represent Team Canada, the elder of the DeFrancesco brothers is looking to put together a few solid string of results over the next two weeks.

Lachlan, younger brother of Devlin and the youngest driver in the DFR program, will compete in the TaG Cadet class at the 17th annual SuperNationals. After being out of the seat for over a year, Lachlan has been tearing up the karting ranks in Florida scoring four podiums in the last six events as he gets back up to speed and prepares for the prestigious event.

Mitchell continued, “Lachlan will run on a BENIK Chassis that Ben Cruttenden and I have been developing for the past several months. We have worked hard on this chassis and achieved great success throughout Florida including a pair of pole positions last weekend at Homestead Karting and several podiums in the past six events. I am very confident that Lachlan will have the speed to run at the front with his recent run of impressive results.”

With on track competition beginning on Wednesday, November 20th, Devlin, Lachlan and Nelson will look to get up to speed over two short test days. Friday, November 23rd will see competitors compete in a timed qualifying session before wheel-to-wheel action commences with the first of three heat races. Saturday will provide competitors two more heats to garner as many points as possible with Last Chance Qualifiers taking place after the heat races come to an end. Championship Sunday will see main events take place throughout the day with race winners being crowned SuperNationals Champions at the day’s conclusion.
