KMS North America welcomes a new driver to the family
This weekend the KMS team headed to 3 Rivers for the penultimate round of the Coupe du Quebec and ECKC with a new driver in the team. Jeremy Tallon, a micro max driver out of Ontario who attended the Jim Russell Karting Academy would join the team for this race on the tricky street circuit. Jeremy took to the team like a duck to water and would improve with each session on track; something that is not easy to do considering it was his first time on a track like this and his first time driving the Birel chassis. Jeremy would go on to take the 3rd fastest lap time of the final race for the micro max in the ECKC Final. A fantastic improvement for Jeremy over the course of the weekend. He and the team look forward to more improvements ready for the Canadian Nationals at his home track, Goodwood Kartways.
William Chayer edges closer and closer to his first ECKC win of the year
William Chayer driving his Birel chassis named Hungry Heidi after his favourite F1 drivers car (Vettel) would show excellent pace all weekend. William would take 2nd place finishes in both the Coupe du Quebec and ECKC finals pushing the leader all the way to the end. William has now moved himself into a great position to fight for the Coupe du Quebec title and the ECKC podiums positions.
Mini Ninja come along way to race with the team
Toranosuke Hamada known to the team, as Mini Ninja, would fly all the way over from Japan to compete in the race. In his first race in Mini Max, Mini Ninja would have problems from the start of the weekend and would never really get to do any practice to dial in the kart and engine to the track. Also he would struggle to get comfortable with the street circuit due to all the problems. We look forward to seeing Mini Ninja back with us in the FWT 2014 series.
Nataël Cantin is getting closer to that elusive first podium in Jnr
Nataël would show fantastic pace all weekend qualifying 4th for the Coupe du Quebec race day, although 2 first lap crashes in both pre final and final would not allow him to have a clear shot at the podium. ECKC race day would not start of too much better either. After posting the 2nd fasted time in warm up Nataël’s kart would not run cleanly at all in Qualifying meaning that he would not post a time. So he would have to race is heart out in the Pre Final coming from P19 to 9th, with some excellent overtakes. The final would also see Nat make some great moves on the first lap and mid way through the race to end up in 5th. This now moves Nat up into 4th in the series, which is excellent in his first year in Jnr.
Olivier Bedard makes a last lap move to take a great victory
Olivier Bedard would once again show great speed all weekend to take pole position in the Coupe du Quebec qualifying. After a mistake in the opening lap of the pre final Oli would go on to finish 6th and 5th in the finals respectively. However, after qualifying 5th and finishing 3rd for the ECKC Pre Final, Oli would move into 2nd at the start of the race behind 2 times World Champion PLO. Leaving it to the last lap Oli would make a switch back move out of the sharp hairpin to take first place and take a long awaited win in the ECKC championship.
Ben Cooper takes victories on both days
Ben showed great pace from word go on the street track. Really enjoying a different challenge to the conventional kart tracks Ben would take a full sweep of the weekend and extend his championship lead going into his home race at Mont Tremblant.
