PPKC to award over $2500 in prize money at Annual Memorial Race!

The Point Pelee Karting Club and their loyal supporters have once again put together an amazing prize fund for their annual PPKC Memorial Race Weekend. This year’s race, held as part of a PPKC double-header on September 15 and 16, has over $2500 up for grabs.

The Point Pelee Karting Club is very much a large family and over the years has unfortunately lost some its closest family members. The annual Memorial Race is a tribute to those lost members including: Brain Heron Jr, Paul McMillan, Calvin Newman, Pete Frydrychowicz, Jason Willis, Gord Bonham, Al Casey and George Gilbert. The Memorial Race always brings back many past members of the club, including friends and family of those who the event is dedicated to.

Headlining the weekend’s event will once again see the headline Honda Sr. Pro class race for a $1000 winner-take-all prize utilizing a unique race day structure on Sunday. This award has been generously donated by Marc Stehle and Windsor Mobile Wash and is dedicated to previous Leamington track owner and club president Gord Bonham. As an added benefit for those attending from out of town, Stehle has offered up an extra $500 if a non-club member takes the victory. Last years race in the Sr. Pro class saw a wild six-kart battle right up to the finish with Cory Cacciavillani taking the victory and graciously donating his race winnings back to the club.

Three other classes will hit the track on Sunday battling for some amazing prize money. The largest Junior class on Sunday will race for $500.00 courtesy of Willis Service Center and Glen Willis. From there, the next largest class of the day (Junior or Senior) will race for another $500.00 courtesy of CF Groups and Cole Cacciavillani. Finally, the Senior Briggs Division will cap the day, racing for $500.00 in prize money courtesy of CanadianKartingNews.com and K&K Karts.

As an added benefit to the event, the Honda Sr. Pro class will race on MG Yellow tires. The tires will be available on site at the special price of $225.00 including tax. Also, for every set of MG Yellows that are sold, Zainostore.ca will donate $75.00 back to the class’s prize fund.

Everyone is invited to take part in Saturday’s Prelude to the Shootout to prepare for Sunday’s big money races.

The Memorial Race is a special day for all club members, as well as family and friends, as the club honours and remembers past karters. Point Pelee Kart Club invites everyone to come out and spend the entire weekend at both the special events planned for the weekend.
