Recently signing a deal to become an importer for the Tony Kart / OTK product line in Canada, Pserra Racing would travel this past weekend with team driver Antonio Serravalle to the CSAI Italian Championships in Siena, Italy. With the event taking place in the Northern part of the country at the Circuito Di Siena, the young champion would join the Baby Race Team and score the Mini 60cc race win on European soil. In a strong field of nearly fifty competitors, Antonio would put his Baby Race Team prepared Tony Kart at the front of the pack when the final checkered flag flew.
“This is such a great experience and result for me, as I found it very tough racing here with such good drivers, and so much rubber! I’m very happy with my result,” explained Antonio. “I need to thank all the guys that supported me all weekend, especially my dad that tuned my Tony Kart to be perfect, Baby Race, and Tony Kart. Without them, this would not have been possible!”
In an international field that would see drivers from multiple countries enter the Mini 60cc division for drivers aged nine to twelve, Serravalle would be on the younger side of the age bracket, as he looked to outduel his competition. Utilizing the CSAI program to better his skills and race craft, Serravalle proved that he was one of the drivers to beat right from the first official session of the weekend.
“Antonio came out of the blocks fast and was running times competitive with the top drivers in the series, and has now put his name out there to be one to watch for,” claimed Peter Serravalle, father of Antonio and owner of Pserra Racing. “After qualifying, we knew that we would have a shot at the win if we could stay out of trouble in the heat races.”
Qualifying in the second position, Antonio would enter the heat races optimistic but reserved in the hopes of good results. Jumping to the point in the first wheel-to-wheel action of the weekend, the talented Canadian would flex his muscles as he controlled the pace of the race. Leading every lap except for the one that counted the most, Serravalle would be passed on the final circuit to cross the line in the third position.
Back on the track later that afternoon for heat two, Serravalle knew that a good and consistent finish would award him with a starting spot near the front of the field for the main event. Running a cautious heat, the Tony Kart driver would come home in the seventh position. Garnering points throughout the pair of heat races, Antonio Serravalle would start his quest for the CSAI Italian Championships victory from outside row one.
Bound and determined to stand atop the box, Serravalle would take control of the main event. Showing that he has what it takes to compete at the international level, the Baby Race / Tony Kart pilot would drive to the victory, his first on European soil.
Antonio Serravalle would like to thank all of his sponsors and supporters. A special thanks goes out to the Baby Race Team and Tony Kart for all of their help, support and coaching through the entire race weekend. Antonio would also like to thank Pserra Racing and his dad Peter for his continued work trackside and providing him with the best equipment to run at the front of the field. Serravalle will return to Europe September 9 for an event in Castelletto, Italy.
