Northern Ontario Karting Championship (NOKC) competitors were recently treated to the demands of the unique and challenging Shannonville Motorsport Park. Taking in Rounds #2 & 3 over the Canada Day holiday weekend, field sizes may have been small, but the racing action, and the weather, was hot!
In Senior Rotax, Michael Glaze came home with both wins in the class, with Gilles Gallie taking the Sunday win in Rotax DD2. One win each went to Zachary Shearer and Nelson Learn in Junior Rotax. Jesse Ward was the Saturday winner in Senior Honda, with Chad Campbell taking the win Sunday. Hunter Hewitt was another double race winner, taking both victories in the Junior Honda category, as did Nico Fattore in 125 Shifter ICC/MOTO and Tyler Edwards in Novice.
The weekend would not have been a success without the generous support of the event sponsors, PCS Project & Construction Management and D.I Auto/Iozzo Family. Also, the NOKC would like to thank all of the volunteers, as well as all of the series competitors who came to show their support and take in a great weekend of racing. Without all of you, the NOKC would not be possible.
The make-up race for the June 1-3 NOKC event will be held at Innisfil Indy on Saturday, July 28 with an exciting night race format. Practice will be offered all day with qualifying starting off the evening’s event at 4pm sharp. The event will also include a BBQ and a race for the mechanics. All clubs are welcome to attend, and the NOKC hopes to see you there! Following the night race event, the next round of the 2012 Northern Ontario Karting Championship is slated for September 15-16 at Innisfil Indy.
The NOKC is a regional qualifying series for the Rotax Max Challenge. The 2012 NOKC series will host six events at Innisfil Indy and Shannonville and is operated by the Innisfil Kart Club. For more information on the NOKC, visit www.nokc.ca or call 905-775-4686.
