PSL West Adds Parker Thompson for Driver Support

Only one year removed from the sport, Alberta’s Parker Thompson has returned and joined the PSL West karting team, but this time he won’t be doing the driving. Thompson has been added to the British Columbia based race team as a driver coach and will kick off his new role this weekend at the second round of the 2015 Rotax Challenge of the Americas.

Already confirmed to compete in the USF2000 formula car championship with JDC Motorsports for 2015, Thompson is sticking close to hit roots as a true ambassador to the sport of karting when he is not in his racecar.

Thompson brings plenty of karting experience as he became the first North American to ever reach the Rotax Grand Finals podium in Junior Rotax in 2012. Thompson then went on to compete in Europe full time in 2013 with the Energy Corse Factory Team, earning a podium in his KFJ debut. Thompson collected a handful of poles, podiums and top fives, with one win competing against the worlds best teams and drivers. Thompson will add knowledge to the already well established PSL West team, who are looking to use Thompson to gain the most out of their drivers and chassis.

Team owner of PSL West Danny Kacic was extremely pleased to bring Thompson on board.

“I am extremely pleased to be given the role to work with up and coming fast young drivers with one of the leading teams in North America,” stated Thompson. “I think the team and I will work very well together and given my knowledge and years of karting I think the drivers will find my information very resourceful.”

PSL West claimed a victory in the Mini-Max class at the Challenge of the Americas season opener last month and are looking to build on that when they arrive in Phoenix this week.

It has been a busy few weeks for Thompson who also just recently launched his PTR Drive to Stay Alive campaign with the support of Alberta Transportation.
