PR: National Title and Teams Cup Runner-Up for DMR Motorsport at Canadian Championships

With the largest turnout of drivers under the team tent of the season, DMR Motorsport and their affiliated drivers arrived in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec for the ASN Canadian Karting Championships with full intentions of winning a National title and finally securing the teams first major victory in their first year of competition. Competing with drivers in all three Briggs & Stratton divisions, featuring the largest grids of the year as well, DMR Motorsport and their FA Karts left a major impression on the karting community, securing a National Title as well the runner-up position in the Teams Cup.

The long awaited and overdue first victory for DMR Motorsport couldn’t have come at a better time. Team driver David Patrick put on a crowd-cheering performance in his Briggs & Stratton Masters debut, taking the lead with only a few corners remaining en route to winning his first National title as well as the first for DMR. Patrick reunited with the team after competing earlier in the year with DMR and he didn’t disappoint.

In Briggs & Stratton Senior, Michael Glaze placed himself in the lead pack of six drivers all hungry for the Final victory. A race of epic proportions had everyone in the crowd on their feet with the strongest competition on track. Unfortunately for Glaze he would cross the line in fourth place, after running as high as third, just missing the National podium in the class that featured 38 drivers.

Joining the team for the first time this season, Joshua Conquer was the lead driver for DMR in Briggs & Stratton Junior. He too put himself in a position to win in the Final on Sunday, running in a lead pack of three. As one of the younger drivers in the category, Conquer earned DMR their second National podium of the weekend with a third place effort coming up just short at the finish line.

These three efforts helped elevate DMR Motorsport to finish second overall in the inaugural Canadian National Teams Cup, coming up only mere points behind the eventual winners, a very impressive feat for a first year karting team. A spirited effort by Randy Glaze and Jessica Plante in the Teams Cup rental kart race also helped earn points towards the runners-up finish.

Also on board the DMR Motorsport team in Mont-Tremblant were: Melissa Glaze, Derek Michaud, Tyler Devlin and Alex Healy in Briggs Senior along with Ron Henrie and Dave Goddard in Briggs Masters. All drivers were commended for their efforts in helping display that DMR is a team to be reckoned with.

With one more major event on tap for DMR this season, the team is planning to end things on a high when they return to Mont-Tremblant for the Eastern Canadian Karting Championships/Coupe du Quebec season finale in September.

“When I contacted Dave I knew he would be a guy to beat in Masters. After having a rough weekend, it finally paid off for him in the Final with the big win. He worked real hard to get that win and deserved it very much. It meant everything for the team cause it’s our first win ever and what a race to get it at. Also I couldn’t have asked Dave or anyone else on the team for more. We all had a great time at the Nationals with some good memories to remember.”
