On the heels of our European adventure, we are back in Canada and ready for the next stop of the CKN Summer Tour. This weekend we travel west down the Ontario 401 highway to Canada’s most southern point, Leamington, Ontario. On tap is an event that falls very close to our hearts here at CKN, the Point Pelee Karting Club Memorial Shootout.
The event is held in memory of many past members who’s lives were taken too soon, dating back a couple decades. Drawing families and friends from across Ontario and Michigan, USA, the weekend is full of emotions and excellent racing and boasts over $4000.00 in cash and prizes up for grabs.
On top of the remembrance festivities, the weekend also features a big money shootout with huge cash and prizes up for grabs. There is a potential for the winner of the Senior Medium four-cycle to take home a cool hard $2000.00 cash! In Senior Medium, cash will be awarded to the top-five finishers, plus the top-three drivers from out of town.
Other classes on tap this weekend include four-cycle specialties Novice, Junior Medium along with Senior/Masters TaG for two-cycle racers. All classes have cash and prizes available to the winners as well.
We are very excited to attend the event and be a part of the action. We have donated five $100.00 gas cards to be handed out, to help support the long drive down to Leamington.
We are expecting a great turnout of drivers in Senior Medium, including some retired drivers who have dusted off their helmets from the shelf.
The event is graciously sponsored by Windsor Mobile Wash, Quinlan Inc, Willis Service Centre, CF Industrial, DeAngelis Construction, Venom Racing Solutions, CKN and Steve MacVoy.
If you aren’t racing on Sunday, we strongly suggest you make the trek down.
