PR by: Mega Racing Team
In lieu of a recent article posted in the Toronto Star, the Mega Racing Team would like to clear the air in regards to some misinterpretation of information included in the article.
First and foremost, Mega Racing did not purchase an engine for $25,000. The team has a budget of $25,000 for their engine program for the entire season, which includes multiple engines for different classes. The Toronto Star reporter was incorrect on the numbers and the information presented to her.
The Mega Racing Team competes in Rotax Micro-Max with lead driver Joshua Cunha as well in Rotax Masters and Rotax DD2 Masters with Paulo Gomes.
Some confusion also arose in regards to Joshua’s schooling. Although he spends many hours at the racetrack, he is still a dedicated student and makes up for his homework whenever he can. As anyone in the karting and racing industry can attest to, there just aren’t enough hours in a day or week, and therefore sometimes a shift in focus is needed to take the next steps. But by no means does Mega Racing accept that racing is a reason for Joshua to simply miss school. If at any point Joshua’s grades suffer because of his commitment to racing, the program will be reviewed. At this point Joshua has been able to find a good balance between maintaining success both on and off the track.
The team has a very busy season planned that includes racing for the Micro-Max class championship at the Florida Winter Tour, where Joshua currently sits fourth after two events. The team will return to Florida for the series finale in a couple weeks time at the Orlando Karting Complex.
