The best race car drivers from all over the World converge in Florida every year to see who is truly the best. The FWT is three fun filled weekends of racing and pure adrenaline. Hearing about the experience a driver gets by attending this event, James Dean decided to make his debut at the Florida Winter Tour and seems to be adapting very well. He is the top Canadian and is currently ranked 6th in the points. James Dean, a very precocious 9yr old from Montreal started racing last summer and became the BRSKC Grand National Champion.
James Dean drives for the PSL Race Team of Trois-Rivieres, Quebec in a CRG Micro Max. He is the youngest driver representing Canada.
With only one day of practice, James Dean struggled with the 7th place finish of Race #1 on Saturday. James Dean complained that he didn't seem to have the power on the straights to keep up with the leaders. After checking the #77 kart, his coach Chris Green found that the clutch was defective. After replacing the clutch, the practice session on Sunday went really well with James Dean posting the second fastest time of the 32 drivers. He was only 0.070 behind American, Maurio Baiz.
Sunday's Race #2 started with a pile up in turn one and James Dean ended up in 13th place. Fighting his way back up the field a great battle ensued between fellow Canadian driver, Gianfranco Mezzaferro. The jousting continued for 3 laps and resulted in a 9th place finish just ahead of Mezzaferro. However, James Dean was not happy with the results and is determined to finish on the Podium at the next race in Palm Beach on Feb 20, 21. James Dean would like to thank his sponsors; McKibbin's Irish Pub, PSL and Thought Technology. You can follow James Dean by visiting his website for news and updates. |
