PR: Vegas Vacation Next Up for Maranello North America

Four drivers to represent the Maranello brand at the US Open of Las Vegas.

To close out their very busy race season, Maranello North America has travelled to the city that never sleeps to compete in a spectacular event, the US Open of Las Vegas. Tackling a temporary track in the parking lot of the RIO All Suites Hotel and Casino, four drivers will pilot Maranello Karts in three different categories with hopes of adding to the three podiums the team earned a year ago in Las Vegas.

For the second year in a row Rotax DD2 regular Ethan Simioni will be joined by DTM racer Robert Wickens in the elite two-speed category as both drivers had back to Las Vegas with victory in mind. Wickens was on the podium a year ago, finishing third in one of only a few starts last year.

Justin Ovejero is taking all of the knowledge he has learned with the Maranello team this year into Las Vegas, challenging the Rotax Senior class while Marcello Paniccia is set for some more Micro-Max action, once again as one of the youngest drivers in the field.

For team manager Trevor Wickens, Las Vegas is an exciting place to start the winter karting season after a very busy summer of racing close to home, especially since they scored a victory and a total of three podiums at this race last year.

“I’m always excited to race in Las Vegas,” explained Wickens. “We did very well last year and hopefully we can repeat those results again this year.”

“The last few weeks have been a much need break for the team and drivers after a very hectic race season. With recharged batteries we are excited to fight at the front in DD2, Rotax Sr and Micro Max.”

Following the US Open of Las Vegas, Maranello North America will steer their attention to the 2017 Florida Winter Tour. The team currently has some open positions on the race team for the Rotax Max rounds. Those interested in joining the team should contact the team immediately before these spaces fill up.
