PR: Excellent Results for SH Racing at first round of the ECKC

On the heels of a dominating weekend at the Coupe du Quebec, the SH Racing Team travelled to Bowmanville, Ontario for the first round of the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship at the Mosport International Karting facility as part of the famed Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. With the team tent full of drivers, the SH Racing team competed against Canada’s best kart racers, along with a handful on International talent, in a variety of classes and left the facility with one race victory and a handful of excellent results.

Powered by AV Engines and racing aboard FA Karts, SHR drivers were a forced to be reckoned with all weekend long at Mosport.

Highlighting the weekend was the Sunday victory by Thomas Nepveu in Rotax Micro-Max. Nepveu was the class of the field all weekend long and had it not been for a carb issue in the Saturday Final, he very well could have swept the weekends activities.

SH Racing had drivers is nearly every class racing at the ECKC, including a powerhouse of five drivers in Rotax Junior. Unfortunately one driver was forced to withdraw before the event even began as Mexican Patricio O’Ward suffered a broken rib in practice. This left Charles Robin, Alexandre Lacroix along with Cedrik and Samuel Lupien to take care of business for SHR. All four drivers were very fast as Cedrik led the way with two top-five finishes. Samuel was sixth and eighth in his two races while Lacroix also scored a sixth place result among the 24 entered drivers in Rotax Junior.

In Rotax Senior, the team welcomed CanadianKartingNews.com Brand Ambassador Coltin McCaughan from Calgary, Alberta. An up and down weekend for the rookie Senior driver saw him compete inside the top-ten all weekend, capping it off with a fourth-place result in Sunday’s final, just missing the podium.

The lone Briggs & Stratton driver under the tent, Simon Belanger earned a top-ten in Saturday’s Briggs Senior Final.

SH Racing also supported their dealer DMR Motorsport where team driver Derek Michaud won the prefinal on Saturday was second in the Sunday Final aboard his FA Psylo Kart.

Another quick turnaround for the team has them racing this weekend at KCR Karting for round two of the Coupe du Quebec Championship. The next round of the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship will be held at Goodwood Kartways in Stouffville, Ontario on June 27-29 where SHR will be seeking more victories and podium appearances.

Sacha Gagnon, SH Racing Team Manager:
“I am really proud of what we’ve done with our drivers and our engines with the support from Alex Vincent from AV Performance.

It was a pleasure to add Coltin to our team lineup and it was great to work with him and his father Louis. He did a great job on an FA Kart in his first Senior race against a really experienced field of drivers. We were really fast in Junior as well with the Lupien brothers and Alex Lacroix, just missing the podium on both days. Thomas Nepveu showed he can stay calm and finish at the top in Micro-Max. And finally, our FA dealer DMR Motorsport finished second in Senior Briggs, showing that the FA Kart Psylo is a great Briggs chassis. I am looking forward to Goodwood.”
