PR: DMR Motorsport Inching Closer to Victory

The busy summer season for DMR Motorsport continued this past weekend as three DMR drivers made their way to SRA Karting for the third round of the Coupe du Quebec championship. Tackling the very competitive Briggs & Stratton Senior category, DMR drivers once again caught the attention of their fellow drivers and although they didn’t score the results they were hoping for they continue to build momentum as the most prestigious events of the season inch closer.

Team driver Derek Michaud rebounded from a tough qualifying session to lead not once, but twice in the main event. Both times Michaud had to work his way forward without drafting partner. While luck wasn’t on his side and the results didn’t warrant the effort he put forth as he ranked sixth overall, Michaud is looking forward to his next couple events to place his FA Kart on the top of the podium.

Making his first major start with the team, Alex Healy shook off his karting cobwebs through a day of practice. Qualifying just outside the top-10, Healy advanced up to eighth in the Prefinal. Finding himself in a heated battle in the Final, Healy brought home his DMR/FA Kart in ninth place and had no complaints about his racing package and is already anticipating his next start with the team.

The final member of the team on track was Miles Smith. Looking to gain experience through the weekend, Smith broke into the top-15 in the Final, consistently improving each session out.

It’s another quick turnout for the team as DMR Motorsport will spend the next two weekends at Goodwood Kartways, near Stouffville, Ontario. First up will be the TRAK club race and BSRKC event on June 21-22 followed by the second round of the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship on June 27-29. The team has added ECKC Briggs Senior points leader Michael Glaze to the roster and will be gunning for the teams first victory before the month of June is complete.

Derek Michaud, Team Manager of DMR Motorsport
“Even know we still haven’t got our first win we are always there with the fast guys. We are very confident that Goodwood will be DMR’s first win, especially considering the drivers we are bringing. I would also like to thank Chrétien Gagnon and Sacha Gagnon from SH Racing for all the support they been giving us this season.”
