Point Pelee Karting Club Amped Up to Host Annual Memorial Race

This coming weekend the Point Pelee Karting Club is gearing up to host their Annual Memorial Race. Racing in Canada’s most southern region, Leamington, Ontario, the race is the highlight of the PPKC season and pays tribute to families and supporters of the club since it’s inception. On top of a great day of racing, special cash prizes and awards, including very unique championship belts, are up for grabs in an array of classes scheduled to take part.

“PPKC is looking forward to once again hosting our annual Memorial Race this coming weekend,” explains Jason Papp. “This is our special race event where we invite everyone in the karting community to come race with us and pay honour to our Memorial Racers.”

“Karting is truly a family sport at the club level and we aim to exemplify that at PPKC.”

The double-header weekend will kickoff on Saturday June 25 with the Prelude to the Memorial Shootout race day. It is a great chance for out of town drivers to come to grips with the Point Pelee Karting circuit with action kicking off in the afternoon for an evening affair. On Sunday June 26, all focus will be on the Memorial Shootout race day.

Putting together a great prize package courtesy of some great sponsors, $2500.00 in prizes/gift cards will we awarded on Sunday including $500.00 to the winner of Senior Medium and $175.00 to the winners of Novice, Jr. Lite and Jr. Heavy. (For the rest of the awards, see below). As mentioned, the winners will also take home a unique one-of-a-kind UFC style championship belt.

“For us at PPKC, this event pays tribute to some great people and brigs together the PPKC family of karters from past and present.”

Added incentive for drivers includes a drawing in each category for a set of Vega Blue tires. The drawing will take place before the Sunday race day begins and all registered drivers are eligible to win.

“For us at PPKC, this event pays tribute to some great people and brigs together the PPKC family of karters from past and present. There is something truly special about this race day, starting with our memorial flags being set up in the infield of the track, which is also the location of our annual group photo with everyone in attendance. Followed by the amazing tribute they get when we have our memorial laps of honour during the lunch intermission.”
