Team Canada is growing for this years Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals, held at the famous Sarno Circuit in Napoli, Italy. Just confirmed, British Columbia’s Kellen Ritter has been awarded a ticket from the US Open for the event and will race in the Rotax Senior Max category.
“It feels amazing to finally represent Team Canada at the Rotax Grand Finals,” exclaimed Ritter when contacted by CKN.
Ritter is a rookie in Rotax Senior this year and has come close the last two years to qualify for the RGF as a Junior, racing at the CAN-AM Karting Challenge, Challenge of the Americas and the Western Canadian Championships with BBR Karting.
“It’s something that I’ve been trying do for the past there years now and now that it’s finally happened, it feels even better than I imagined it would,” he continued. “And to do it in my first year in Senior is the icing on the cake.”
Making the jump to Senior this year with RPG Motorsports saw Ritter nearly claim the Challenge of the Americas title with an impressive know ickstart to the season. His ticket comes from the US Open Championship, and here he currently sits third overall.
“I’m very happy for Kellen,” said MaxSpeed Entertainment’s Richard Boisclair. “He has shown speed and consistence during the US Open and he will be a strong addition to Team Canada.”
With many Canadian drivers qualifying through international competitions this year, Team Canada will boast a large team in Italy. Currently qualified are: Samuel Lupien (Junior), Ryan MacDermid (Junior), Gianfranco Mazzaferro (Senior), Jeff Kingsley (DD2), Tyler Kashak (DD2), Marc Signoretti (DD2), Paul Carvalho (DD2 Masters) and John Cariati (DD2 Masters). Canadians will have two final chances to qualify for the RMCGF through the ASN Canadian Open National Championships and the CAN-AM Karting Challenge.
The Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals takes place on October 18 to 22.
