Eastern Canadian Karting Championship Announces 2012 Prizes and Awards

May 23, 2012 – As the hours count down to the start of the 2012 Eastern Canadian Karting Championship (ECKC), series officials are pleased to announce the prize and award structure for their third season. The premier karting series in Canada will once again award an amazing array of prizes and awards in 2012 including four invitations to the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals for class champions in Rotax Junior, Senior, DD2 and DD2 Masters as part of Team Canada. Briggs & Stratton competitors will be awarded $100 contingency prizes, with champions being awarded 2013 ECKC registration and tires. Position 1 Fitness is awarding the Rotax champions traveling to the Grand Finals a customized training program, while The Decal Zone will be awarding each and every champion a gift certificate. Combine these awards and prizes, along with special discounts secured only for ECKC competitors, with the unparalleled competition the ECKC offers, and there is no doubt the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship is the place to race in Canada.

With the start of the season set for Goodwood Kartways this coming weekend, the first of the ECKC awards are set to be distributed at podium presentations. All Rotax and Briggs & Stratton classes will be honoured with first, second and third place podium trophies for each of the six rounds. Overall points champions in each class will also receive a championship trophy, along with second and third place finishers in the point standings following the conclusion of the 2012 series finale at the Monaco of Trois-Rivieres. Each class champion will also receive a $250 gift certificate from The Decal Zone, a leading supplier of decal kits, name decals, number panels, visor strips and much more. New in 2012, a Manufacturers Championship will also award trophies to the first, second and third place finishers of the kart chassis manufacturer in the ECKC Manufacturers final point standings.

As a Rotax MAX Challenge series, the 2012 ECKC and SRA Karting will again award direct invitations to the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals (RMCGF), set for November 26-December 1, 2012 in Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimao, Portugal. The class champions in Rotax MAX DD2, Rotax MAX, Rotax MAX Junior as well as Rotax MAX DD2 Masters will all receive the amazing opportunity to represent the ECKC and Team Canada on the world stage. As one of the most competitive Rotax MAX Challenge series, the inter-provincial championship elevates Canadian karting talent to the top of their game. Past representatives and series drivers from the ECKC series have proved themselves in past RMCGF, most notably two-time Rotax MAX DD2 World Champion Pier-Luc Ouellette. And if history truly does repeat itself, the 2012 edition is sure to be well represented again by ECKC champions.

In correlation with these invitations, Position 1 Fitness will also be providing a special three-month personalized training program to the four Rotax MAX series champions to prepare for the 2012 RMCGF. The programs, custom-tailored to each driver’s needs by P1 Fitness, will ensure the champions are on the top of their game through cutting edge, elite training, nutrition and supplementation. Position 1 Fitness is also offering every ECKC competitor, team member and associate a one-month trial of their revolutionary P1 Online Trainer.

With the inaugural season of the Briggs & Stratton ECKC championship, the four-cycle engine manufacturer is offering a unique award at the end of the season. Any Briggs & Stratton driver who competes in a minimum of four races in the 2012 Eastern Canadian Karting Championship will receive a $100 CDN payment at the conclusion of the series. And if there wasn’t enough for Briggs & Stratton drivers, the ECKC will also be awarding the class champion in each of the Briggs & Stratton Junior 1, Senior and Master classes 2013 ECKC series event registration plus one set of tires per round.

As an official supplying partner, UNC is also offering a discount to ECKC entrants on graphic design, printing, vehicle lettering, complete wraps, kiosks, tents and special projects. The 2012 Eastern Canadian Karting Championship commences in just a few short days, as Rounds #1 & 2 are set for this weekend at Goodwood Kartways in Stouffville, Ontario. Official event practice gets underway Friday, May 25 at 10:00am with two full days of racing action set for Saturday, May 26 and Sunday, May 27. Full event schedules are available at www.eckc.ca.

The Eastern Canadian Karting Championship is an ASN-sanctioned, four round, six race series with venues in both Ontario and Quebec. Now in its third year, the ECKC will start off the 2012 season at Goodwood Kartways in Stouffville, Ontario May 26-27 for the first double-header weekend. Circuit ICAR will host the third race in Mirabel, Quebec June 17 followed by the second double-race weekend at Mosport International Karting in Bowmanville, Ontario June 30-July 1. The series will conclude at the Monaco Grand Prix of Trois-Rivieres July 29, the prestigious street race set at the site of the GP3R at Exposition Park. The Eastern Canadian Karting Championship is a Rotax Max Challenge series and will award Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals tickets to the Rotax Senior, Rotax Junior, Rotax DD2 and Rotax DD2 Masters class champions. In 2012, the Briggs & Stratton classes will contest the series six-race series, making up a national four-stroke championship.
