BirelART Karts Do it Again!

BirelART showed serious 4 cycle dominance winning 4 out of 6 Briggs and Stratton classes and leading every single Briggs race at the ECKC season opener at Goodwood Kartways.

Long time BirelART driver, Austin Bisschop ran up front leading races all weekend. He started the weekend off by qualifying 3rd only .09 off the pole position. He then went on to finish 3rd in the prefinal and 4th in the final. He qualified 2nd on Sunday, only .08 off the pole. He went on to win the prefinal and then finished 2nd in the final, leading most laps in both. In one of the biggest and most competitive classes in the series, Austin Bisschop is off to a great start with his championship hopes.

Multi time Canadian National Champion, Jean-Francois Lafontaine started off strong on Saturday by putting it on the pole. He finished 2nd in the prefinal and went on to win the final. On Sunday, J.F qualified 3rd and got shuffled back to 4th in the prefinal. He ended the weekend strong by grabbing a 2nd place finish in the final. Expect to see Jean-Francois Lafontaine up front in the next round as they go to his territory in Qubec. Kyle Edgar showed great speed all weekend. On Saturday, he qualified 5th and finished 3rd in the prefinal. In the final Kyle and J.F drove away from the field. When the checkered flag flew, Kyle placed 2nd, only .03 behind J.F. On Sunday Kyle was the dominant kart all day. Qualifying only .004 off the pole and then going on to win the prefinal set him up for a good run in the final. He won the final, grabbing the first ECKC win of his career.

Briggs and Stratton Masters

Marc Stehle made his regional debut in his new BirelART chassis putting down blistering laps all weekend. After being underweight in qualifying on Saturday, Marc drove from 18th to 5th in the prefinal with an incredible charge to the front. Following that, Marc led both final races only to come up short with a 3rd and 2nd place finish. Steve MacVoy made his return to the BirelART chassis which may have been one of the biggest hidden stories of the weekend. After arriving to the track on Saturday morning with no practice, Steve literally assembled his new Birel chassis and new L0206 engine package minutes before the start of the event. After battling with his teammate, Steve ended the weekend with a near perfect record, qualifying 1st and 2nd and winning both prefinals and finals.
