Christmas has come early for Canadian karters hoping to set their racing schedules for 2016. CKN received notification this afternoon from ASN Canada of the dates and locations of the five official ASN Canada FIA National Karting events and for the first time since the inception of the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship, the Canadian Championships will close out the season.
Moving to Labour Day weekend, September 1-4, the ASN Canadian National Karting Championships will take place at the Jim Russell Karting Academy in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec.
For 2016, the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship will once again run at the same four venues, but with a twist in order. Goodwood Kartways in Stouffville, Ontario will host round one on May 20-22 while two weeks later the series shifts to the ICAR Circuit in Mirabel, Quebec. As the primer for the Nationals, The Jim Russell Karting Academy will host round three on Canada Day Weekend, July 1-3, while Mosport Kartways in Bowmanville, Ontario will decide the class champions on July 29-31 leaving a month break before Nationals.
While not confirmed, it appears that ASN Canada will host a Championship banquet on the Sunday evening following the Canadian Championships in Mont-Tremblant to celebrate both the ECKC and Canadian National Champions.
