With the completion of the 2012 karting season and as we begin to focus on 2013, I would like to take a moment and thank all of our wonderful readers, advertisers and supporters for making this re-launch year of CanadianKartingNews.com a sensational one. I am so thankful for the opportunity I have been given to rebuild CKN into Canada’s most popular karting website.
As I sit here and begin to write this on a flight home from the 2012 Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals, I can’t help but think about just what an awesome year it has been. From the first race for the new CKN at Western Canadian Championships in Chilliwack, BC, to the crowning of eight Canadian Champions in Mont-Tremblant, QC, to watching Ben Cooper earn Canada its third-straight Rotax DD2 World Championship in Portimão, Portugal, it’s been an amazing ride. As a country we have celebrated so much this year, and it has been my pleasure to report and photograph it for all of you to read at home.
I have many people to thank for this opportunity, and first and foremost is all of you, the readers. Without you, there is no reason to report. I also have to thank each of the advertisers that have stepped up and supported the website. Finally, I have to thank my business partner Andy Defrancesco.
I also need to thank everyone who helped out CKN trackside and behind the scenes this season. Neelan Nadesan and Tanya Beaudin were a great supporting cast at most of the major events in Canada this summer. We also had some special contributions to the site by creative writers Jason Holland and Mike Maurini, and I thank Daniel Morad for some trackside support as well. Finally, Kyle Herder made the trek to Portugal with me, and brought plenty of new opportunities to the website.
The future for CKN is wide open at the moment. I tried many exciting new methods in event coverage this year, and now look for some feedback from our readers. Using the comment section below, please let me know what you did and did not like from our coverage this year. Also, I’d like to know what you would like see new in 2013. I will be doing the best I can to expand our coverage once again, and it all starts soon at the 2013 Florida Winter Tour.
For 2013, I look forward to continuing to cover every major Canadian event, while keeping tabs on our Canadians competing at the highest levels around the world.
See you soon at the track,
